Students can visit the exhibitions hosted by the Astra Museum Complex free of charge
On the occasion of the International Day of the Student, celebrated on November 17th, students have the opportunity to visit free of charge the exhibition entitled Â« Transylvanian painted furnitureÂ», hosted by the House of Arts at no. 21 in the Small Square.
Exhibited for the first time in Sibiu, the majority of the objects of painted furniture are unique pieces due to the craftsmanship with which they were built and painted with polychromatic motifs by the carpenters of the German guilds between the 15th and the 19th century. The main purpose of this exhibition was that of getting the interested public from all over Europe to become acquainted with the furniture collections belonging to the area of noble and peasant culture of the Transylvanian German population of the last five decades and the contribution of the Transylvanian German population to the cultural exchange going on in the area, bringing forth the example of these furniture works of art.
Also on their anniversary, the students who are interested may visit other two exhibitions free of charge: â€śTransylvanian Stove Ceramic Tiles 15th to 19th centuryâ€ť and â€śFrom the culture and art of the peoples of the worldâ€ť. These two exhibitions are hosted by the â€śFranz Binderâ€ť Museum of Universal Ethnography with its headquarters at no. 11 in the Small Square.
