Sibiu promoted in Istanbul
Between December 14th and December 31st, the Dimitrie Cantemir Romanian Cultural Institute -Istanbul will be celebrating the conclusion of Sibiu European Capital of Culture 2007 by means of a photographic exhibition. Two artist photographers, Sergiu Dragoş Şerban and Nicolae Iordache, traveled to Sibiu during different periods of 2007, in order to capture the Sibiu European Capital of Culture 2007 event in various moments. Interested both in the events as well as in the architecture of the place and the people celebrating the city, Sergiu Dragoş Şerban and Nicolae Iordache will create by means of this exhibition a general image of the 2007 capital of culture. The project is conceived as a turning over of the relay to Istanbul, who will become a European Capital of Culture in 2010 and as a unique way to report the Romanian experience of this year. The project is unwinding in partnership with the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Committee, the exhibition being hosted by the gallery belonging to this committee, as ICR Istanbul reported.
Sergiu Dragoş Serban has been considering photography a hobby for more than 15 years, concentrating on nature and landscape, both subjects being related to his studies of geography and the preservation of nature. Recently however, his hobby went to the next level by publishing his works in periodicals and specialized publications from Hungary, Romania and Turkey which brought him five awards in photography in 2006 and 2007. He is interested in photographic subjects such as nature â€“ both sub-aquatic and on land, photo-journalism and macro.Â
Nicolae Iordache has been a passionate photographer since 1990 and a member of the Romanian Association of Artist Photographers since 1991. He published in various environment and social magazines. His subjects of interest in photography include landscapes and people.Â
